Before eating old jam, it is important to make sure that it retains its taste and colour and is not affected by mould. If you notice changes, it is better to refuse to eat it to avoid possible food poisoning.

You should be especially careful with jam made from berries with seeds, as they can release hydrocyanic acid. The shelf life of such jam is only 6-8 months.
